Uzhunnu Vada/Urad dal vada/Urad Dal Patties/Medhu Vadai


Ingredients:-
Urad dal -2 cups
Finely chopped onion-1 small
Green chilli, chopped-2 nos,
Chopped ginger-2 tsp

Jeera/Cumin seed-1/2 tsp
Crushed black pepper-1 tsp
Finely chopped curry leaves-3 tsp
Salt
Oil

Directions:-
·         Wash and soak the urad dal for 2 -5 hours
·         Grind urad dal adding little water and salt into coarse paste.Don’t add too much water. It would be better if you don’t add water at all.
·         Add onion,ginger,curry leaves,green chilli,black pepper,jeera into the ground paste.Mix well

·         Pat hands with water and make a ball with the paste.Flatten it and make a hole in the center like doughnut.

·         Drop vada into hot oil and deep fry till golden brown in color
Have with Sambar or chutney

  12. I love this vadai....I can literally go on eating this with coconut chutney and sambar....looking at your photos I want to eat some now....*sigh* I wish there was a South Indian restaurant nearby like in India, where I could just pop in and order a plate of this :-)
