The choices of vegetables are purely according to each one's taste.
·Cook dal with turmeric and enough water till done
·Chop all vegetables in a medium size pieces.Pour all chopped vegetables into cooked dal with chopped onion, tamarind juice with 2 cups of water (soak tamarind in 1/2 cup of warm water for 5 minutes and squeeze the juice out of it).
·Pressure cook for 1 whistle, release the pressure immediately.Heat oil in a large pan, add mustard seeds.
·When the mustard seed crackle adds dried red chillies.
·Add chopped onion or shallots sauté for minutes with curry leaves.
·When shallot/onion become transparent reduce the heat add coriander powder,redchilli powder, turmeric powder,sambar powder fry till raw smell of the powders go.
·Add cooked veg-dal mix into this masalas. Mix well and cooked for further 5 minutes.
