Parippu Vada (Dal Vada)


Toor dal - 1 cup

Onion - 1 medium

Finely chopped green chilli - 2-3 nos.

Finely chopped ginger - 1 tbsp

Red chilli powder - 1 tsp

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves - a few ,chopped



  • Soak the toor dal in water for an hour. Drain the water completely and grind it coarsely without adding water in a mixer.
  • Add onion,green chilli, ginger, turmeric and red chilli powders, curry leaves, and salt to the ground dal and mix well.
  • Shape the mix to make small patties.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Gently drop the vada one by one and deep fry till they are golden.

Serve hot.
