Ellunda (Sesame Seed balls)




Ingredients:-


Sesame seed (ellu) - 2 cups

Jaggery - 3/4 cup

Ghee - 5-10 tsp


Directions:-

  • Roast the sesame seed in pan over a medium heat.Stire continuously till they are start popping.Remove from the heat and spread it on a large plate.
  • In a separate pan, heat jaggery and a few table spoon of water and make a syrup out of it. The syrup should be thick with the consistency. (To check the consistency, pour a drop of the syrup into a cup of cold water. It will become a soft ball).
  • Add the toasted sesame seeds to the syrup, and stir well. Let it cool down a little. or pour this mixture into a parchment paper.

  • When the temperature cools down to a state where the hand can withstand the heat, grease a little ghee on the palm of your hand, pick up a handful of the mixture and make small even sized balls using the hand. Repeat with the remaining mixture .
