Tomato Rice (Thakkali Sadam)






Ingredients :-



Chopped tomatoes medium size - 3 nos.



Basmati rice - 1 Cup



Chopped onion - 1/2 cup , lenghtwise



Ginger finely chopped- 1 tbsp



Chilli powder -1 tsp



Coriander powder - 1 tsp



Jeera powder -1 tsp



Turmeric - 1/2 tsp



Mustard seed – 1 tsp



Urad dal – 1 tsp




Garam Masla Powder- 1 tsp(optional)




Curry leaf – 1 strand



Oil



Salt

Directions:-



  • Cook the Basmati Rice and let it Cool.
  • Heat the Oil in the Pan and add mustard seeds.When it starts spluttering add urad dal,sauted till it become brown.
  • Then add curry leaves,onions,fry till onions become translucent.


  • Add ginger ,tomatoes, salt,tumeric and keep stirring.When everything is mixed together add all the dry masala powders.And mix well.
  • Let it cook; keep stirring frequently.When the tomatoes are cooked add the Rice and mix well.
  • Garnish coriander leaf.




Serve with pappadam
